The Monticello Restaurant is one of Charlotte North Carolina’s oldest historic restaurants located adjacent to The Dunhill Hotel. It is renowned amongst the locals, whether working in the financial district or visiting the theatre or arts district. It features Chef Michael Woods “A Taste of Carolina” theme highlighting the freshest local ingredients in the marketplace in addition to innovations ranging from southern comfort to innovative cuisine with international influences.

The dining room’s design features the paintings of North Carolina artist Philip Moose. His legendary artwork is transformed throughout the restaurant and lounge.

Monticello’s continues to be the best kept secret amongst Charlotte’s Business Community. The private setting and sophisticated fare of the restaurant provide the perfect venue for business lunches or specialty dinners.  It is the perfect place to hold your corporate meeting, special event, weddings up to 100, rehearsal dinner or reception.

Specialty Menus are available from our Catering Department.  Chef Woods will work with you and develop a special menu just for your event based on your desires.

Considered one of Charlotte’s most intimate hotel dining rooms, Monticello’s offers a unique and elegant dining experience featuring Chef Michael Woods’s creative flare on southern cuisine.  For breakfast, expect an upscale breakfast of Eggs Benedict, fresh seasonal fruit, French toast, and pancakes.  Lunch features our award winning Shrimp and Grits as well as daily changing specials.  Lunch specials consist of a sandwich dish and pasta dish.  Past specials have included Crab and Artichoke Pasta, Beef Tenderloin Salad, Prime Rib Sandwich, Veal Cutlets with whipped potatoes and rosemary jus, Duck Pot pie, and Fried Grouper Sandwich with Carmelized lemon tartar sauce.  On the weekends, Monticello’s features a Prime Rib Special for Two for dinner after 5:00.

The Lounge
One of the most comfortable and cozy settings in the city, The Lounge offers a piano bar with live entertainment on Friday and Saturday evenings. The lounge features over 30 wines by the glass and a fine assortment of single malt scotches and single barrel bourbons.

In-Room Dining
For guests who prefer to dine in the privacy of their room or suite, Monticello’s presents an extensive Room Service Menu for the Dunhill Hotel serving breakfast, lunch, dinner and an after-hours selection of foods. A variety of beverages and cocktails can also be ordered for in-room dining.

Prime Rib Special for Two
Every Friday through Sunday nights, the restaurant features a Prime Rib Special for Two.  It includes 2 Slow Roasted cuts of Prime Rib, mashed potatoes, and Chef’s selection of vegetables for $38.

Chef Michael Woods’ Custom Wine Dinners
If you want to truly treat your small group to an impressive dining experience - consider a custom wine dinner.  Chef Michael Woods’ can design a 7 to 10 course menu with you based on your wine & food preferences.  These Wine Dinners are served in one of our intimate private dining rooms by our knowledgeable servers with a visit from the chef.  We also work with North Carolina Winemaker Childress Vineyards and Biltmore Wines to create menus celebrating local food & wine.  Contact Michael Woods.
